About Us | Amdanom Ni

North Wales Camerata Gogledd Cymru is a chamber orchestra of young musicians who enjoy playing classical music and sharing it with an audience. The orchestra was established in autumn 2013, and gave its inaugural concert in Bangor University on 3rd January 2014. To date, the orchestra have given 11 concerts, including a successful debut performance at the Bangor Music Festival in March 2015, Christmas concerts in collaboration with CGWM in December 2015 and 2017, and summer chamber music concerts at St Mary’s Church, Conwy in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

All members of the orchestra provide their services free of charge, and all have benefitted, or are still benefitting, from the excellent youth music provision in North Wales at local, county and regional levels. It is in large part thanks to the hard work of these musical organisations that our members have become the talented and experienced musicians that they are today. Although there are no fixed age limits for members, the vast majority are aged between 16 and 28, and include school pupils, musiNWC1c college students, undergraduates and graduates, many of whom will eventually become professional musicians.

North Wales Camerata would like to contribute what it can to sustaining local youth music provision. All profits from our concerts have been put towards establishing a North Wales Youth Music Fund, with the primary intention of subsidising the cost of music courses for young people in the region. So far, North Wales Camerata have donated £5,000 which has been split between the North Wales Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Wales.

Mae Camerata Gogledd Cymru yn gerddorfa siambr o gerddorion ifanc sy’n mwynhau chwarae a pherfformio cerddoriaeth glasurol a’i rannu gyda chynulleidfa. Sefydlwyd y gerddorfa ym mis hydref 2013, a llwyfannwyd eu cyngerdd agoriadol ym Mhrifysgol Bangor ar 3ydd Ionawr 2014.
